Terms of Service

1. About sharewood

sharewood is a mobile app that lets you share, lend, borrow, give away, and request items among your friends. These Terms of Service govern your use of the sharewood app and related services (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or using sharewood you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. Account registration

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use sharewood.
  • You must provide accurate information when registering.
  • You are responsible for the security of your login credentials.
  • You may not create a second account or share your account with others.
  • Registration is available via email/password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In.

3. How the Service works

sharewood provides a platform where you and your friends can:

  • List items as bookable (for lending), as a give-away, or as a request to friends.
  • Book items from friends with specific dates.
  • Chat with friends about items.
  • Comment on shared items.
  • Organise friends into sub-groups to control item visibility.

sharewood is a communication and coordination platform only. We are not a party to any lending, borrowing, or gifting agreement between users. All arrangements are made directly between you and your friends.

4. User content

  • You retain ownership of all content you post (item descriptions, photos, comments, messages).
  • By posting content you grant sharewood a limited licence to store, display, and transmit it to your friends as required to provide the Service.
  • You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to post the content you share.
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • pursue any unlawful purpose.
  • list illegal, stolen, or dangerous items.
  • harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
  • post offensive, hateful, or inappropriate content.
  • access another user's account or data.
  • use automated tools to access the Service (bots, scrapers, etc.).
  • interfere with the operation or security of the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these rules.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

  • The Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind.
  • We are not liable for items that are damaged, lost, or not returned between users.
  • We are not liable for disputes between users over shared items.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Service.
  • To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service (which is zero - the app is free).

Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by law, in particular for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health.

7. Termination

  • You can delete your account at any time from within the app. All your data will be permanently removed from our live systems; see our Privacy Policy for how long data may remain in backups.
  • We may suspend or delete your account if you violate these Terms or if required by law.
  • Upon termination your right to use the Service ends immediately.

8. Privacy

Your use of sharewood is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect and how we use it. Please read it carefully.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you - for example via email or an in-app notice - at least 30 days before the changes take effect, and inform you of your right to object. If you do not object within that period, the updated Terms become effective for your account; you may always object by deleting your account before the change takes effect. Minor changes that don't materially affect your rights or obligations (e.g. corrections, clarifications) may be published without prior notice.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of that country's law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts competent for Chemnitz, Germany, unless mandatory consumer protection rules require otherwise.
